UN Envoys Attend Event Highlighting Solidarity Among Ethnic Groups in Xinjiang, Condemn West for Fabricating Lies

Emissaries from around 30 countries expressed support for China while criticizing the West for fabricating lies about Xinjiang to discourage China’s development at a meeting on the sidelines of the 47th Council of United Nations human rights. Representatives from Xinjiang shared their stories at the meeting and presented a vivid account of solidarity among ethnic groups in the region.

On the theme “Solidarity between ethnic groups in Xinjiang”, the event organized on Wednesday by videoconference was co-organized by the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (northwest China). ).

More than 30 national envoys from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Belarus, among others, attended the meeting, as well as senior diplomats, officials from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and journalists.

“Ethnic solidarity is the lifeline of peoples of all ethnic groups and the cornerstone of development and progress in Xinjiang,” said Chen Xu, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva, during the opening speech.

He added that more than 90 countries have provided support to China on Xinjiang-related issues in various forms at the UN Human Rights Council, which clearly reflects the common aspiration of the international community.

He invited foreign missions to visit Xinjiang and see for themselves the harmony that exists between people of different backgrounds, and witness to prosperity and development.

The event invited a number of representatives from Xinjiang to share their stories and present concrete examples of how ethnicities have lived together in harmony as one family.

A resident of Shule County in Kashi Prefecture, Xinjiang told the story of Pan Yulian, an 80-year-old retired teacher who has dedicated her life to teaching and caring for local children since 1992.

The county has more than 6,000 residents from eight ethnic groups. After her retirement, Pan decided to take care of the local children at her home. When the number of children increased, she took out all her savings and opened a school to teach children for free.

Li Li, a doctor who treated a boy with broken arms at the MTC Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, recounted how people from different walks of life rushed to save the boy and sent him to the best. Xinjiang hospital within hours. . After two timely surgeries, the boy is now recovering under the intensive care of a specialized medical team.

Emissaries from North Korea, Sri Lanka, Venezuela, Belarus, Iran, Laos, Cameroon, Ethiopia and other countries spoke at the meeting, appreciating the continued efforts of the China to eradicate absolute poverty and maintain peace in Xinjiang, while firmly opposing Western interference in China’s internal affairs. cases of his own ill-intentioned political manipulation.
